This has some good stuff if you are just starting: http://forum.rscnet.org/showthread.php?t=222712
To see your frame rate in the game type CTRL-f. The number
will appear in the upper right corner of the screen. The bars in
the upper right corner show how much of your video card's memory is
being used.
You can adjust your mirrors, your seat position, and the overall
field-of-view (FOV) of the display. The FOV is adjusted in the
display section and oddly enough you set the vertical FOV and the game
will calculate and set the horizontal FOV to match. The seat
position is in the controls section and there are four controls that
you can set to any keypress or button for forward, backward, up, and
down. When you use the controls the game says "seat" in a high-pitched
voice. If you hold the left-shift key down and use the seat
controls it will adjust the mirrors and say "mirror". I kid you
not. It is worth spending some time getting all of these things
to a point you are most comfortable with.
The pit speed limiter is toggled on/off with a keypress/button set in the controls section. It starts out as the L-key.
The LCD display may be cycled through a variety of screens using
the enter key. The schematic of a car with dots in various
locations show tire temp ( the bands of dots that change color as the
temp changes), tire wear ( the line of dots outside the tire), and
damage (dots inside the car that chg color to show damage.
More than aero damage is now repairable, so you can get other stuff fixed!
You can adjust brake bias
in the car for rFactor (and in the garage) BUT, not for the Mod were are running (I think, Earl).
The in-car controls are settable in the controls section.
Some players like to use this as a fine tune for balance
(understeer/oversteer, tight/loose). I've never used it this way.
I try to move the brake bias to the rear until I'm losing the
rear end under braking and then adjust forward a bit until the car is
stable under braking. I think this allows me to go deeper
into the corner before braking. YMMV.
For scheduled pit stops you will see a message telling
you that the pit crew is ready for you. If you need to make an
unscheduled pit stop and you simply go to your pit stall you will get
service but it will be slower because the crew was not ready. You
can alert them by requesting a pit stop ( default key "s"). Then,
within about a half lap you will get the message that the crew is ready
and you make pit with no extra time added.
If the game rules for flags is "full" they apparently
mean business about slower traffic heeding the blue ("move over")
flags. If you do not move over with some as yet undetermined by
me interval you will receive a stop-and-go penalty, at least that's my
best estimate for the reason for the flag. This will be indicated
by a Red block and Green block in the upper left handed corner of the
screen. Failure to
answer such penalties results in disqualification. Don't ask me
how I know this.
